Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe claims Tories are keeping him in jail as 'revenge'

Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe claims he is being held in prison out of 'revenge' - and would be a 'model' citizen if he was released.

Sutcliffe, 73, was jailed over the brutal murders of 13 women during a five year reign of terror that finally came to an end in 1980.

The serial killer thinks he should be let out of jail - despite being handed 20 concurrent life sentences with a suggested 30-year tarrif.

In audio leaked to the Sun, Sutcliffe claims he has served “long enough for anybody” and would be a “model citizen” if he was let out.

He also claims that his detention is politically motivated and blames the Tory party for keeping him in jail.

In the tape, he says: “The punishment matters to Conservatives . . . that’s all they think about. Revenge, you know.”

He also compared his treatment to London Bridge terrorist Usman Khan, 28, who stabbed two people to death after being released half way through a 16-year jail sentence.

He says: “It’s ridiculous, isn’t it, especially when you’ve got a minimum of 30 and you’ve done an extra ten and you get people doing horrible stuff and they get out after eight years, like that terrorist.”

Sutcliffe is being held at HMP Frankland, County Durham, which also houses Soham beast Ian Huntley and serial killer Levi Bellfield.

A source told the Sun on Sunday: “Sutcliffe complains about everything. He’s got a real ‘woe is me’ attitude.”
