A Yorkshire fish and chip shop chain has been crowned one of the best chippies in the country as part of the National Fish and Chip Awards 2020.
There were 15 categories in the competition with some accolades including best newcomer, best service and best fish and chip restaurant.
The Wetherby Whaler, which has branches in Pudsey, Guiseley, Wetherby, York and Wakefield, has won the staff training and development award.
The family-owned business was formed back in 1969 and is popular with fish and chip connoisseurs right across Yorkshire.
The Wetherby Whaler employs 220 full and part-time staff at their five branches.
The rather aptly-named The Cod’s Scallops, based in Nottingham, scooped the overall fish and chip shop of the year gong at the awards.
