York Road in Leeds cordoned off by police after man hit by car

A main road was closed in the early hours of the morning after a man was hit by a car in Leeds.

The man, 45, has suffered serious injuries as he was quickly transported to hospital after being hit by a red Vauxhall Corsa on York Road near the junction to Upper Accommodation Road.

Whilst his injuries are serious, they are not thought to be life threatening.

An eye witness said: "An area was cordoned off with loads of police officers there - I think I was there just as police got there as they were sort of setting up a scene - it looked really serious..

"I have no idea how he could have been hit by a car - I hope he is okay!".

A statement from West Yorkshire Police read: "Police are appealing for information following a road traffic collision in Leeds last night.

"At 10:12pm yesterday, police were called to the incident in York Road, Leeds, where a 45-year-old male pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a red Vauxhall Corsa near to the junction with Upper Accommodation Road.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were serious but not life threatening."

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit via 101 quoting 13210199208 or online via the live chat facility.
