Winter Power kept her unbeaten run at York this season intact with victory in the Group 1 Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes.
Tim Easterby's sprinter had a pair of Listed successes to her name at the track, but took her form to a new level on Ebor eve.
Racing front rank with American raider Golden Pal, she picked up in terrific style down the centre of the track to comfortably take the £226,840 first prize.
Outsider Emaraaty Ana (40-1) ran on well for second, a length-and-a-quarter behind, with ultra consistent Dragon Symbol (4-1) in third.
Winter Power, trained locally at Easterby's stables, returned at odds of 9-1 under Silvestre de Sousa, who said: "She’s unbelievably fast, when she hits the gates right she’s really good.
“She did that here first time this year and I thought I hadn’t sat on anything as fast as her."
Frankie Dettori might have been out of luck on Golden Pal, but he had earlier starred aboard Stradivarius in the Group 2 Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup.
The seven-year-old was given a proper test by chief market rival Spanish Mission, after Trueshan was a late non-runner.
Stradivarius poked his nose in front right on the line following an absorbing battle, to the delight of his fans on-course.
"He’s getting older and wiser, so I don’t think you’ll see him winning by very far these days," Dettori said.
"But he got the job done. I was really choking up when he got an amazing reception. I love him so much."
