The Yomiuriland amusement park reopened on Tuesday for the first time in 81 days. The park, which straddles Inagi, Tokyo, and Kawasaki, had closed its gates in late March because of the new coronavirus pandemic.
Visitors, including many families with children, eagerly awaited the reopening of the park and entered as soon as the gates opened to enjoy various attractions.
The park's staff, who wore masks and face shields, took the temperature of the visitors using thermographic devices and other equipment at the gates. Disinfection protocols were also set in place, such as spraying disinfectant on the hands of each visitor at the entrance of each of the 25 outdoor rides and attractions that resumed operations, including roller coasters.
"Today is our son's first birthday, so we've decided to come here to celebrate. We want to relax and have fun," said a 28-year-old company employee from Chofu, Tokyo, who came to the park with her husband and son.
