Yomiuri Land Co. has announced plans to open an entertainment-oriented botanical garden equipped with digital technology in Inagi, Tokyo, on March 14.
There, visitors will be able to enjoy flowers in full bloom throughout the year, and watch a projection map show that combines both flowers and digital imaging technology.
The 40,000-square-meter facility is slated to be adjacent to the Yomiuriland amusement park, with the main greenhouse, Hana Biyori-kan, to be decorated with more than 300 hanging planters filled with begonia, geranium, and other types of flowers.
Visitors will be dazzled by the virtual space created with projection mapping, that will consist of three wall images and a stereophonic sound system with 18 speakers, the firm said.
There are two distinct endings for the projection mapping show prepared, and the garden will choose one after analyzing the emotions of the audience during the show.
Other attractions will include an otter display and an aquarium filled with saltwater fish from Okinawa. Visitors also will be able to enjoy the beauty of 15,000 seasonal flowers in the outdoor Shiki no Niwa garden.
The botanical garden's hours are expected to be from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., but it will vary depending on the season. The entrance fee is 1,200 yen for junior high school students and older, and 600 yen for children 3 and up.
