Yokohama striker Ado Onaiwu linked with Celtic after entering last six months of his contract

Yokohama F. Marinos striker Ado Onaiwu has been linked with a move to Celtic today as the Ange Postecoglou era gets fully underway.

The Greek-born Australian coach was appointed Hoops manager on a 12-month rolling contract yesterday, with the Glasgow giants finally replacing Neil Lennon almost four months after the Northern Irishman resigned.

Postecoglou will need some serious reinforcements this summer, with the likes of Kristoffer Ajer, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie all entering the final year of their respective contracts.

And with Leigh Griffiths' future far from certain, it looks as though finding fresh fire power could be high on the agenda within Celtic Park.

And one player who is likely to be considered by Postecoglou is Japanese forward Ado Onaiwu.

The 25-year-old has worked with the new Bhoys manager at Yokohama, where he's scored 10 goals in 16 appearances this season, including a hat-trick against Tokyo last month.

The Daily Record are reporting that Postecoglou is 'on alert' regarding his former colleague's future, with Onaiwu entering the final six months of his contract with the J League club.

Onaiwu's value could rise, however, if he makes his debut for Japan in the upcoming friendly against Serbia, after being called into the senior set-up.
