Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday shared what he described as a bizarre example of theft involving a luxury car and a flowerpot worth just Rs 45.
Addressing an event in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister said CCTV cameras allegedly captured a person arriving in a high-end vehicle worth around Rs 2.5 crore and stealing a flowerpot installed as part of a beautification project.
Calling it a “new model of theft,” he said even the fuel used in the car would likely cost more than the flowerpot itself.
“We install flower pots, and someone comes in a car and takes away the pot. The fuel used in the car itself could have bought a new pot,” he said.
According to the chief minister, the flowerpot was worth around Rs 45.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath Calls It A “New Model Of Theft”
Speaking at the event, Yogi Adityanath said the incident reflected how public property meant for civic beautification projects was being misused.
He said CCTV surveillance revealed that an expensive luxury vehicle was allegedly used in the theft.
“Such an expensive vehicle — around a Rs 2.5 crore car — and yet it was used to steal a pot worth Rs 45,” he said.
The chief minister added that people should instead buy flowerpots themselves and contribute to keeping cities clean and beautiful.
What Did Yogi Adityanath Say About CCTV Monitoring?
During his address, Yogi Adityanath also warned against damaging or stealing government property.
He said CCTV cameras had been installed widely and authorities regularly monitored footage.
“CCTV cameras are installed everywhere now. We keep monitoring through them,” he said.
