Yobs tip couple's car over in cruel 'prank' in the middle of the night

A gang of yobs tipped a couple's car over in their driveway during a cruel "prank" in the middle of the night.

Maggie Radcliffe's Smart car was reportedly targeted at around 3am on Monday morning by a group of five teenagers on Darmond Road in Kirkby .

The 45-year-old explained to the ECHO that she was alerted to it by a neighbour who was passing in the morning.

Maggie said: "A lady who was passing knocked on our door to tell us. We hadn't been outside yet so didn't know about it.

"We checked our CCTV camera and we could see five people running away from the front of the house.

"I couldn't see their faces because they had their hoods up but they looked to be teenage boys, maybe between 15-19-years-old.

"It looks like they have probably done it as a prank because it is a Smart car."

Maggie, who works full-time and is a carer for her husband, said she is now going to have to pay an excess on her insurance to get repairs on the car carried out.

She said: "It is still in being assessed so I don't know how much it will cost but this was a very expensive prank.

"We have never had any issues like this before. We lived here six years and the worst was some children sitting on the wall.

"I don't know why they picked us but I hope they don't do it to anyone else."

Pictures of the car tipped onto its side were posted to Facebook the morning after the incident and were met with disgust by people who lived in the area.

One woman said: "This is just ridiculous, what do they get from it? The poor couple."

Another added: "Horrible, feral, rats. I really hope karma comes soon for them.

"That poor couple hope they will be ok bless them."

The incident has been reported to Merseyside Police.
