Yobs set fire to newly-refurbished play park in Grangemouth as cops launch probe

Police in Grangemouth are on the hunt for a group of yobs after a kids play park was set on fire at the weekend.

The playing area in the Zetland Park was targeted at around 9pm on Friday, September 3.

Officers are now looking over CCTV in a bid to find those responsible.

Pictures shared on social media show pieces of bark set alight underneath a climbing frame.

The park is currently undergoing a £192,000 makeover.

Zetland Park Regeneration Project said: "We have had fire setting in the play park. We have been out to look at the damage and Police Scotland are aware.

"CCTV is being reviewed but if you have any information please contact 101."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.45pm on Saturday, 4 September, officers received a report of damage in the playground area of Zetland Park that had taken place the night before.

"Enquiries are at a very early stage."
