Yobs on 'stolen' bike speed through street on wrong side of road

Two teenagers have been arrested after fleeing from police through red lights in Liverpool.

The pair, who were riding on a motorbike, made off after seeing patrols in the area and refused to stop when requested by police.

Matrix officers then spotted the motorbike driving at excess speed, through red traffic lights and on the wrong side of the road.

At around 12.55am, on Friday, October 1, officers stopped the motorcycle using a stop stick on East Prescot Road and the two men ran off.

Police dog Mizz found one teen on Queens Drive and a second teenager was found on East Prescot Road.

Both were arrested and a the motorbike, a Triumph, with false plates was recovered. It is believed that the motorbike is stolen.

A Merseyside police spokesperson said: "At 12.55am the motorbike was successfully stopped by officers using a stop stick on East Prescot Road and the two males ran off.

"With the assistance of PD Mizz and their handler one male was located on Queens Drive and arrested and a second male was found on East Prescot Road and also arrested.

"The bike, a Triumph which was on false plates and believed to have been stolen, was recovered.

"A 16 year-old male was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, drug driving, fail to stop and using a motor vehicle without a licence or insurance.

"An 18 year-old male was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated vehicle taking (being carried on), dangerous driving and possession of a controlled drug Class B.

"Both are currently in custody are enquiries are ongoing."
