Yobs arrested after being found with ammunition and 'white powder'

Five teenagers have been arrested after being found with ammunition and suspected class A drugs.

On Sunday, October, 9 police in Southport received reports of balaclava-wearing teenagers armed with weapons on Vulcan Street. Taser-trained officers responded gaining entry to a property that the offenders had run into.

During the search, a number of items were located including, a clear bag containing white powder, a large quantity of cash, a number of flick knives, scales, and a number of mobile phones including a miniature mobile phone. The occupants were detained and searched under Section 23 of the misuse of drugs act.

Ammunition was also discovered although this is now believed to be for a blank-firing gun. Five people were arrested on suspicion of possession to supply Class A drugs, possession to supply a psychoactive substance, possession of an offensive weapon, Possession of a Class B drug (cannabis), theft of a pedal cycle, and possession of ammunition. Investigations are ongoing.

A post on the Sefton Police Facebook page said: "On Sunday 9th October 2022 at 11:40pm, Merseyside Police received a 999 call reporting youths in Vulcan Street in Southport, wearing balaclavas and armed with weapons. Officers based at Southport Police Station responded, with taser-trained officers gaining entry to a property that the offenders had run into.

"There was immediate evidence of drug paraphernalia, large quantities of small clear bags, and drug canisters. The occupants were detained and searched under Section 23 of the misuse of drugs act.

"During the search, a number of items were located including, a clear bag containing white powder, a large quantity of cash, a number of flick knives, scales, and a number of mobile phones including a miniature mobile phone. Some ammunition was discovered although this is now believed to be for a blank-firing gun. All five were arrested on suspicion of possession to supply class ‘A drugs, possession to supply a psychoactive substance, possession of an offensive weapon, Possession of a class ‘B’ drug (cannabis), theft of a pedal cycle, and possession of ammunition."
