Yob who threw bottle at shop employee and smashed a window back at court

A Moodiesburn yob who threw a bottle at a male shop employee – striking him on the head – during a crazed rampage has been told he will face no more court reviews.

Martin McPake went on a violent, aggressive tirade at the Co-op store in Kilsyth on April 15 last year.

The 23-year-old “repeatedly shouted and swore”, kicked a door to try and gain access behind the shop’s counter, repeatedly brandished a bottle of alcohol at staff members, “pulled an electronic device from the counter” and threw a bottle, “causing a window to smash”.

Bridgeburn Drive resident McPake also struck a male staff member on the head with a thrown bottle, pushed him on the body and threw shopping baskets at him.

Staff at the shop called the police and McPake was taken to Coatbridge police office.

He pled guilty to his violent outbursts and was sentenced to a community payback order at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

McPake was back in the dock earlier this month to face a review of his order.

His defence solicitor, Colin Dunipace, told the court McPake was adhering to the conditions of his order and responding well to his punishment.

Presiding sheriff, Petra Collins, then chose to “allow the order to continue” and revealed McPake would “face no further reviews”.
