Yob pressed pillow over partner’s face

A Hamilton man who pressed a pillow over his partner’s face has avoided a prison sentence.

Gavin Russell was instead ordered to attend a domestic violence project when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

Russell (32) of Chapel Crescent, admitted assaulting Louise O’Rourke to her injury at his home on October 22.

The court heard he compressed the victim’s neck and pressed a pillow over face, restricting her breathing.

Russell also admitted shouting abuse and threats.

He was placed under supervision for two years and as well as attending the project for offenders must do 180 hours of unpaid community work.
