Yob to carry out 150 hours unpaid work after kicking police officer

A yob put police officers and himself in danger when he kicked out while being driven to a police station.

Darren Prentice, 39, of Allan Tower, Motherwell, was put under supervision for a year at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.

He admitted culpably and recklessly kicking PC Claire Woodburn on the arm while she was driving on Motherwell Road, Hamilton, on August 11.

Prentice also admitted shouting abuse and threats at Hamilton bus station, trying to headbutt PC Scott Brown and kneeing the officer on the body.

Sheriff Moira MacKenzie also ordered him to do 150 hours of unpaid community work.
