Yob sexually assaulted a paramedic, throttled one police officer and bit another

A yob sexually assaulted a paramedic, throttled one police officer and bit another.

Graham Watret was warned by a sheriff he was lucky not to be jailed for his conduct in the Hamilton incidents.

Watret, 36, of Hollows Avenue, Paisley, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

He admitted a string of assault charges relating to three incidents last year.

The court heard he grabbed a male paramedic repeatedly by the buttocks and body in an ambulance in a Hamilton street in August.

Watret also attempted to grab the man’s genitals and tried repeatedly to kiss his face.

He attacked a female PC on a landing in Almada Tower on June 30 last year.

Watret grabbed her and during a struggle he compressed her neck, restricting her breathing.

He also bit a male PC on the face and body and punched him repeatedly on the head and body.

The court also heard of an incident at an address in Millgate Road on June 29.

He punched and kicked Sean Hamilton and pushed James Wallace before grabbing his hair.

Watret’s solicitor admitted the charges were serious, but described him as “extremely vulnerable” and warned a prison sentence would “further jeopardise his mental health”

Sheriff Allan McKay told the accused that, despite his difficulties, the court “will have little patience with you and send you to prison if you continue with this type of offending”.

The sheriff said he was willing to impose a community payback order as an alternative to custody at this stage.

Watret will be under social work supervision for three years and on the sex offenders’ register for the same period.

Sheriff McKay added: “I’m worried about your alcohol intake. You will have to stop that.”
