A thug has been jailed for a vicious attack on one of his best friends' girlfriends in a row over money.
Colin Graham kicked his victim on the head as she lay on the ground in a drunken early morning assault.
Ayr Sheriff Court heard he lashed out at her while on the 9am rampage because her boyfriend owed him money.
The details emerged when Graham, 36, appeared in the dock yesterday for a pre-trial hearing.
He pleaded guilty to two charges — behaving in a threatening or abusive way, by shouting, swearing, making threats and smashing a window with a brick, and assaulting the woman by kicking her on the head.
He pleaded guilty to the assault charge after prosecutor Martina McGuigan deleted claims that he had been in a car which repeatedly drove at the victim, striking her on the legs and knocking her to the ground, and attacked her after jumping out of the vehicle.
The offences took place in Ayr, South Ayrshire, on March 8 this year.
Miss McGuigan said Graham had been seen "pacing up and down" after throwing a brick through the window.
She explained: "He was saying, 'Get f****** out here. He knows what this is about. Where's my f****** money?'."
The prosecutor also said Graham was examined by medics after being arrested in connection with the incident, and was found to have several injuries.
The court heard the pair had been friends but fell out and that the victim's boyfriend had allegedly damaged Graham's 19-year-old son's motorbike, then failed to pay for the damage after agreeing to do so.
After hearing that the woman had confronted Graham with a knife after he'd smashed the window, and that he was injured by coming into contact with the blade, Sheriff Mhairi MacTaggart jailed him for 12 months, reduced from 16 months as he admitted his guilt.
The sentence was backdated to March 10, 2021, when he was first remanded in custody.
