Yoann Barbet's first words after joining QPR from London rivals Brentford

Queens Park Rangers have announced the signing of Yoann Barbet.

The defender moves to Loftus Road on a three-year contract after choosing to leave Brentford at the end of his contract.

The 26-year-old was linked with a move to both Leeds United and Aston Villa but instead has opted to join Mark Warburton's side.

Barbet's decision to join Brentford's rivals will likely come as a surprise to many, but the Frenchman said he was delighted to join the Hoops.

Speaking to QPR's website, he said: "I am really excited for this new challenge.

"QPR is a massive club with a big history so I am really happy.

“I will give everything. I am a really passionate player so as soon as I am on the pitch I give everything.

“I try to lead the team and to help other players, to make them confident. I will do my best to help them in a good way and the team to do as best as possible.”
