YO! opens sushi kiosk in Tesco Extra store

Whether it's the weekly mooch around the supermarket or just dashing in for a pint of milk, a visit to Tesco Extra has just got a whole lot more exciting.

At least it has for YO! Sushi fans who can now get their fix of Japanese delights at the store in Waverley Street, Long Eaton.

A manned YO! To Go kiosk has opened where the supermarket's fresh fish counter used to stand as part of plans to open in 50 supermarkets around the country.

However, the Derbyshire town is the only one in the area and no openings for Notts Tesco Extra shops in Beeston, Toton, Top Valley or Bulwell are planned at present.

While it's not the full restaurant experience, complete with conveyor belt, there is a selection of freshly made sushi snacks including salmon nigiri, avocado maki and dynamite rolls, and dragon rolls with rice on the outside.

Sets come with a variety of salmon, tuna, chicken, prawn and veggie sushi for sharing or a heartier snack.

Some of the most popular restaurant dishes can be heated at home. Chicken, prawn and tofu katsu curry, all in panko breadcrumbs come with rice.

Salmon or chicken with teriyaki sauce and rice and Korean fried chicken can a be popped in your shopping basket for an easy, tasty dinner.

Other bits and pieces on the counter include pots of edamame beans and kaiso seaweed and chicken katsu bites, and for pud there's custard dorayaki pancakes and chocolate mochi (truffle ganache in a light mochi rice).

Completing the haul are Japanese drinks, amongst them bottles sparkling yuzu and cucumber and still yuzu and pear.

Shoppers looking forward to trying it include Gabby Bull, who said: "It's nice to be able to buy something different but freshly made in Long Eaton."

The kiosk will be open Monday to Saturday from 6am to midnight and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
