'YNWA' tributes and flowers laid at scene where dad was killed

Beautiful flowers and heartfelt tributes were laid at the scene where a dad-of-two was killed after being hit by a car in Tuebrook.

Paul Scott died following the incident on Lisburn Lane on Tuesday evening.

The 51-year-old, from Huyton, was rushed to hospital with severe injuries after he was struck by a Ford Fiesta car, shortly before 7pm.

He died a short time later, prompting an outpouring of grief from friends and loved ones, as well as ECHO readers who extended their condolences.

Merseyside Police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing and the driver of the car, who stopped at the scene, is assisting with enquiries.

Bouquets of red roses were left at the scene today, along with tributes to Mr Scott.

One message said: "Paul, will miss you always. YNWA. Lynn xxx"

While another said "I can't believe you've gone Paul. I'll never forget you. Love you brother. John x"

A third wrote: "Good night and god bless. Les x"

Sharing a heartbreaking tribute the family said losing Paul has "left a big hole in our lives."

In a statement they wrote: "We are the brokenhearted family of Paul Scott from Huyton, and previously Whiston and Breck Road.

“He has left a big hole in the lives of his sons Michael and Sean, ex-partner Sue, granddaughters Sophia and Dolcie, his mother Cathy, brothers Les and John and sister Lynn.

“Paul loved to cycle and go for long walks and shared these pleasures with his family.

"We would appreciate it if the family could be left to grieve at this time.”

In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "We’re appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Tuebrook on Tuesday, 1 December.

"Shortly before 7pm, officers were called to Lisburn Lane following reports of a collision involving a Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian.

"Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

"The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries."
