I'm at IFA 2025, which means I'm getting to see some of the best home appliance tech and home innovations before anyone else.
And one of the most impressive things I've seen so far? Dreame's Bionic QuadTrack Stair Climbing System (try saying that five times fast). The Bionic QuadTrack Stair Climbing System is a shell for Dreame's robot vacuums, not a vacuum itself, and can transform a regular robot vacuum into something no other robot vacuum can do — go up and down a flight of stairs.
I saw it in action, and it blew me away. Here's why I'm super impressed with the Bionic QuadTrack Stair Climbing System.
It can go where no robot vacuum has gone before
One of my biggest issues with even the best robot vacuums is that they can't climb stairs.
Most houses have at least one staircase, so trying to clean a multi-story house with a robot vacuum is incredibly frustrating. In my testing, I had to set up the robot vacuum to memorize two separate maps, one for the upstairs and downstairs, and manually carry the robot between stories.
Cleaning the stairs? Gotta bring out the ol' trusty stick vacuum for that.
But thanks to the Dreame Bionic QuadTrack Stair Climbing System, the vacuum can climb up to any level of your home and make light work of cleaning there, too.
The vacuum has four "legs" and looks like if a miniature tank and a robot vacuum had a baby. The vacuum rises off its legs and angles the front two above its body. Then, it drags itself up with the tracks, which is where the tank comparisons come in.
It's pretty cool.
I actually felt like cheering it on during the demonstration, but it arrived at the bottom of the stairs too fast for me to muster up the courage.
It's so speedy — it got up and down the stairs in about a minute. Obviously it takes some time to figure out the angles and distance, but once it's done the math, its up there like a shot.
But there's a catch
I was really disappointed to hear that, as of right now, there's no release date for the Bionic QuadTrack Stair Climbing System.
I also asked if the Bionic QuadTrack Stair Climbing System is backwards-compatible, or if it will only be compatible with future versions of Dreame' robot vacuum lineup. Unfortunately, it will only be compatible with future robot vacuums.
So if you've got a current Dreame robot vacuum or you wanted to get one, I'd hold off until the Bionic QuadTrack Stair Climbing System.
In the meantime, I'd recommend the fantastic Dreame R10 Pro, which is a cordless stick vacuum. We awarded it 4 stars in our review and my colleague Nikita still uses it to this day.
