'Yes sir' M74's new gritter named in tribute to Scotland's epic Euros win

Scotland's newest gritter has been named in tribute to the national team's epic penalty-shoot out win over Serbia to qualify for Euro 2020.

South West Trunk Roads, which maintains the trunk road network in the south of Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland, has added 'Yes Sir Ice Can Boogie' to its fleet of gritters for the winter period.

The 1970s disco classic has become Scotland's unofficial anthem after a video of Steve Clarke's side dancing to the tune in the dressing room after beating Serbia went viral.

Named by service provide Amey, the bright orange gritter - complete with Scotland flag painted on the side - will be patrolling the M74 motorway to the south of Glasgow.

South West Trunk Roads revealed the new gritter in a tweet which read: "Oh Yes Sir... The first Amey Plc named gritter for South West Trunk Roads is here! Catch it patrolling the M74 this winter".

The latest addition to Scotland's gritter fleet will find itself in good company with other hilariously named vehicles such as Spreaddie Mercury, Lew-Ice Capaldi, Sir Andy Flurry and David Plowie.

It comes a few days after one Hamilton man's suggestion that South Lanarkshire Council's new gritter be named 'Margrit Ferrier super spreader' - after the disgraced MP - topped a local newspaper poll.
