'Yes Sir, Ice Can Boogie' Hilarious Tartan Army tribute as gritter named in honour of Scotland’s Euro 2020 success

Transport chiefs have named a gritter ‘Yes Sir, Ice Can Boogie’ to mark Scotland’s historic success in the Euro 2020 tournament.

The bright orange vehicle will patrol the M74 during the winter period spreading salt, grit and joy to passersby.

The iconic moniker was inspired by Baccara’s classic disco hit Yes Sir, I Can Boogie which re-entered the charts following the Tartan Army’s win against Serbia.

It became Scotland’s unofficial anthem after a video of the football team singing and dancing to the track after their win went viral earlier this month.

Scots on social media hailed the new name as 'class' (Twitter)

Road maintenance giant Amey shared pictures of the stunning new vehicle on Twitter.

SWTrunkRoads said: “Oh Yes Sir… The first Ameyplc named gritter for South West Trunk Roads is here. Catch it patrolling the M7 this winter. #NoScotlandNoParty.”

Social media users thoroughly approved of the new name and said it was ‘class’.

Claremont AFC wrote: “Good banter lads.”

Stevie Beveridge said: “Hahahaha that’s class.”

Lesley Park added: “Scotland has such a love for Baccara these days.

While Lindsay Terrell wrote: “Makes me smile so much.”

Other notable gritter names used in Scotland include Sir Andy Flurr, William Wall-ice, Lew-Ice Capaldi, Grits n Pieces and Ploughlo Grittini.
