'Yes Sir I can Toddy' Scots rum brand create new cocktail celebrating Scotland's success

The producers of Glasgow's 45 Rum came up with a novel way to celebrate St Andrew's Day on Monday.

Combining the recent Scotland's mens team victory against Serbia with one of the country's most iconic drinks they've created a fun new cocktail.

Dubbed the 'Yes Sir I can Toddy', the team at Jacobite Spirits say it's the perfect way to get into the festive spirit while celebrating Scotland.

Posting about the new creation, co-founder Michael McCartney said: "We've come up with a 45-inspired twist on a famous Scottish drink to mark the end of a month which gave us a rare cause to celebrate! It's called the Yes sir, I can Toddy."

The Yes sir, I can Toddy

The 45 Rum 'Yes Sir I Can Toddy'. (Jacobite Spirits)

What you'll need:

Scottish honey

Boiling water

1/4 of a lemon

1 slice lemon

1 slice apple

cloves

1 stick of cinnamon

35 ml of 45 Scottish Spiced Rum

Glass with handle or stem (the glass itself will be warm to hold)

How to make it:

Add 1-3 teaspoons of honey to a mug or glass depending on how sweet you like it.

Add a splash of boiling water and stir until dissolved.

Add the juice of quarter of a lemon.

Then stick two or three cloves through the slice of apple and lemon and add them.

Top up with boiling water, leaving space for The 45 Scottish Spiced Rum, just before serving.

Add a generous 1.5 shots of The 45 and a stick of cinnamon.

Inhale deeply and enjoy responsibly.

(Add The 45 at the end is to make sure you don’t evaporate off all the good stuff!)

Jacobite Spirits

Jacobite Spirits started up last year when a group of pals with varied professional backgrounds invested in setting up a small-batch distillery in Glasgow.

Jamie Smith helped found Jacobite Spirits late in 2019 with a group of friends from various professional backgrounds.

And now the distillery’s 45 Scottish Spiced Rum has taken the country by storm, with Charlie’s Chopper Raspberry Spiced Rum, which is based on cranachan, their recent foray into the craft rum market.
