'Yes it really is him' - Man United fans spot same thing from Cristiano Ronaldo training images

By Matt C Jones

Manchester United supporters were treated to some images of Cristiano Ronaldo back in training at Carrington on Tuesday, intensifying excitement ahead of his potential second debut this weekend.

The Red Devils completed the shock signing of the 36-year-old last week and Ronaldo returned to his new club early from international duty after he was suspended for Portugal's clash with Azerbaijan.

It meant the veteran had time to put in some extra preparation ahead of what promises to be a memorable occasion at Old Trafford on Saturday, when Newcastle United are the visitors in the Premier League.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of United fans have spent plenty of time perusing the photographs of Ronaldo back on the training pitch in their club colours.

Given the prestige Ronaldo holds in the game, it's also no shock to see the impact he's seemingly had on his new team-mates.

From the images released by United on Tuesday, it was clear that one player in particular was happy to see the former Real Madrid icon join the club - Diogo Dalot.

The look of admiration on the young full-back's face was obvious to see and United fans were quick to point out as much on social media:

Given Dalot is a two-time Portugal international, he would have encountered Ronaldo previously. However, it would appear the prospect of working with the forward on a day-to-day basis was enough to make the former Porto man beam.

Ronaldo is considered one of Portugal's greatest ever players alongside the likes of Luis Figo and Eusebio.

Not only has he netted a remarkable 111 goals in 180 appearances for the Selecao, he was key to their memorable triumph at the 2016 European Championships, which is the nation's only major football honour to date.

Dalot and Fred were pictured alongside Ronaldo in training as they had not been selected to represent their country during the international break.

Dalot spent last season on loan at AC Milan and was linked with a departure from United this summer. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope Ronaldo's presence can inspire his junior compatriot to a breakthrough season in Manchester.
