Yemeni Presidential Council Asserts Need to Improve Services, Living Conditions

President Rashad al-Alimi chairs the meeting of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) (Saba)

President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Rashad al-Alimi stressed the need for the government to carry out its duties and implement financial and administrative reforms, according to official sources.

Saba news agency reported that Alimi and his deputies reviewed the government plans on the country's economic and financial situations in addition to services and the proposed measures to improve them.

Prime Minister Maeen Abdul Malik presented the government's reports on fulfilling its obligations and significantly reforming the electricity sector and public services.

In his report, the Prime Minister outlined economic and financial indicators accompanied by suitable measures to contain the repercussions of the food crisis resulting from the global price changes.

Abdul Malik referred to the decisions of the High Council of Energy on reforming and developing the electric system and devising urgent solutions for the power supply shortage in Aden ahead of the summer.

The Council also reviewed the cabinet's proposed solutions to confront the global grain crisis, including the agreements signed with India to secure Yemen's wheat needs.

Sources stated that Alimi directed the government and the Central Bank to take more procedural measures to cope with the financial crisis and improve the exchange rate.

He also asked for regular reports on the developments of previous directives to banks and exchange offices that included relocating their operations to the temporary capital of Aden.

Alimi asked the government to submit a detailed report on the requirements for the electric network during the next four months, accompanied by the proposed effective solutions in the medium and long term.

He indicated that the country might ask an international company to do an integrated study on electricity in the liberated areas, determine the problem, and develop its strategic solutions.

The Council also requested a detailed report on the various customs and tax agencies and adopting a unified mechanism to address their imbalances and control their revenues to improve the state's resources.

The Presidential Command Council vowed to implement military and security reforms and is expected to announce the formation of the joint security and military committee to maintain security and stability.
