Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik met on Monday with the leadership of the local authority and executive office of Abyan province in the interim capital Aden.
The Saba news agency reported that the meeting discussed the latest developments in the province in light of recent developments, the current arrangements for normalizing the situation, improving services and consolidating security and stability under the Riyadh Agreement.
The meeting also stressed the importance of the authorities doubling their efforts to perform their duties and responsibilities in service of the citizens despite the exceptional and difficult circumstances.
The news agency said the local authority presented a number of projects and the prime minister directed the Ministry of Local Administration and other relevant bodies to study them and recommend their adoption by the Cabinet.
The PM hailed the Riyadh Agreement, saying it would not have been successful without the support of Saudi Arabia and the efforts of Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.
“Any attempt to undermine the agreement is tantamount to attacking the people,” he declared. “Any substitute to the deal is internal war and destruction."
