Three ministers from Yemen’s newly formed power-sharing government asserted the importance of complementary work achieved by state institutions in guaranteeing success of the endeavors of their respective ministries.
Public Works and Highways Minister Maneh bin Yammine, Health and Population Minister Qasim Buhaibeh, and Industry and Trade Minister Muhammad Al-Ashwal have said that they look forward to returning to the interim capital, Aden, where they will work for all Yemenis and rebuild the country’s state institutions.
“There are countless challenges. But for us at the Public Works and Highways Ministry we are determined to rise above challenges and have a speedy recovery in a way that fulfills the aspirations of citizens,” said Yammine, noting that serious fieldwork will commence on restoring basic services, infrastructure, and housing.
The minister reaffirmed the new cabinet’s commitment to persistent and coordinated work to improve their country’s conditions.
Speaking on the support given by countries in the Saudi-led Arab Coalition, Yammine said it was vital for reviving the spirit of state institutions.
He also revealed that his ministry is currently conducting efforts in close coordination with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) and the Emirates Red Crescent.
Health Minister Buhaibeh, for his part, said that his ministry was prioritizing the enhancement of institutional work and the training of the country’s medical cadres.
He said that reinforcing and boosting the performance of Yemen’s health sector was imperative in light of spreading diseases in the country.
Buhaibeh stressed the need to increase control and accountability at the ministry, especially during the economic and political turmoil experienced by the country.
Industry and Trade Minister Al-Ashwal, on the other hand, underlined the importance of restoring hope among Yemenis.
Ashwal acknowledged the multitude of challenges facing the new cabinet, adding that security, stability, the ongoing war, and the economy dominate the list.
