Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik has vowed to address “corruption” in the state’s sectors.
He said he won’t be tolerant of employees accused of corruption regardless of their posts.
This comes in line with the government’s quest to reform the economy and improve the state’s resources.
Abdulmalik’s remarks were made on Sunday after receiving Head of the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption (SNACC) Judge Afrah Badouilan in Aden, according to official sources.
In coordination and partnership with SNACC, the Premier stressed that the government will never tolerate corrupts.
He affirmed that it will take serious, transparent, and responsible stances in addressing all corruption cases and suspicions despite the current circumstances and complications.
Meanwhile, Abdulmalik referred to the government's keenness to enhance partnership with SNACC as one of the nation’s most significant component of integrity and transparency.
He pointed to its seriousness in activating control over institutions and enhancing the principle of accountability and transparency to preserve the state’s funds and prevent wasting public money.
The legitimate government has been working on different levels, said Abdulmalik, adding that the challenges ahead are countless and multidimensional, including the lack of accountability, which constitutes an appropriate environment for corruption to increase.
He emphasized that “activating the mechanisms of accountability and control is one of the government’s priorities.”
“The government seeks to attain practical achievements in this regard under the directives of President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.”
Official sources said Abdulmalik also reviewed SNACC’s plans and orientations during the current and upcoming phases in the field of enhancing integrity and activating the legislative system in the field of anti-corruption, including the financial disclosure law and the financial law, in addition to community awareness.
Badouilan, for his part, briefed the Premier with SNACC’s vision to address imbalances in the tax and customs sectors, and the various revenue bodies, Saba news agency reported.
He submitted its proposals to enhance partnership with the government and other parties involved in fighting corruption, in addition to the draft National Code of Conduct, aimed at enhancing transparency in the field of service and public employment in Yemen.
