For the sixth day in a row, Houthi militias have been mounting a sporadic attack campaign against different locations in the Hodeidah governorate, violating the UN-sponsored truce established under the Stockholm Agreement of 2018.
Arab Coalition Spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki revealed that joint forced had intercepted and destroyed on Wednesday an explosive-laden drone launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a deliberate attempt to target civilian objects and civilians.
More so, Houthis had directly targeted with artillery shells the Thabet Brotherhood Industrial and Commercial Complex, one of Hodeidah’s largest industrial complexes, which caused a massive fire in the compound’s warehouses.
The internationally-recognized government accused Houthis of escalating violence in Hodeidah and threatened of finishing the battle there with victory, liberating the coastal governorate.
Yemeni Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hadrami, in a virtual meeting with UK Foreign Office minister James Cleverly, had reiterated the government’s stance.
Hadrami and Cleverly discussed bilateral ties and means of boosting and developing them. Efforts for achieving sustainable peace in Yemen were also addressed.
Saba news agency quoted Hadrami as confirming the government’s keenness on achieving a sustainable peace agreement that is based on the main references for settlement.
Hadrami also said the government supports peacemaking efforts spent by UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths.
He condemned the violent escalation staged by Iran-backed Houthi militias in Ad Durayhimi District of the Hodeidah governorate, saying that the group has violated the armistice in an attempt to cover for its losses on other battlefronts.
Houthi ranks have been incurring massive losses in Marib, al-Jawf, and Al Bayda governorates.
In his statements, Hadhrami held Houthi militias responsible for the violations and the failure of the Stockholm Agreement.
He stressed that government forces in his country are able to support the Saudi-led Arab Coalition and are ready to liberate all of Hodeidah governorate from the hold of Houthi militias.
