The Yemeni government has welcomed a Saudi official statement, which has refused any "new reality" imposed by force in Yemen.
The government “welcomes the Kingdom’s recent stance that rejected the flare-up in some southern (Yemeni) governorates,” it said in a statement on Friday.
On Thursday, Riyadh said any attempt to destabilize Yemen’s security would be a threat against the Kingdom and "will be dealt with decisively".
“The Kingdom affirms its firm position that there is no alternative to the legitimate government in Yemen and that it does not accept any attempts to create a new reality in Yemen by using force or the threat of force,” it said.
Saudi Arabia affirmed that the warring parties and the legitimate government have to swiftly take part in the Jeddah dialogue.
Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al Jaber also urged the legitimacy and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) to commit to the dialogue and avoid bloodshed.
In its statement, the Yemeni government expressed “appreciation to the clear and honest Saudi stance.”
It also lauded the Kingdom for seeking to unite all sides in meeting the Arab Coalition’s clear objectives in fighting the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
An STC delegation, chaired by Aidarus al-Zubaidi, arrived in Jeddah on Tuesday in response to a Saudi invitation.
While the government denied any direct or indirect talks, STC spokesman Nizar Haitham revealed unofficial meetings with parties in the legitimate government pending the start of the official talks.
