Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi has called on parties and political forces in his country to avoid personal interests, saying this difficult phase needs united efforts.
During a meeting in Riyadh with Prime Minister Moeen Abdulmalik on Thursday, Hadi expressed high appreciation to the Saudi leadership for its efforts and its continuous support for the Yemeni people.
He said speeding up the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) will contribute to unity and efforts to restore state institutions.
His comments came as Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al Jaber praised in a tweet the Yemeni President, his deputy and his government and the delegation of the STC for reaching a mechanism to speed up the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement signed between the two parties in 2019.
On Wednesday, Hadi named Ahmed Hamed Lamlas as a new governor for Aden and Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed al-Hamifi as a new Director of Aden Police and promoted him to the rank of a major.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, a Saudi official source said the Kingdom exerted efforts to bring together the two Yemeni parties in Riyadh with active participation of the UAE.
“The two parties responded positively and accepted this mechanism to overcome current challenges and put the interest of the Yemeni people above everything else,” the source said.
