Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Obeid bin Dagher revealed on Wednesday indicators showing strategic oil and gas discoveries in Yemen’s Hadhramaut province, vowing to establish new electricity infrastructure.
Bin Dagher also launched development projects that come as government efforts aim at accelerating growth in liberated areas. Reconstruction efforts, renovation and rebuilding of services are tasks the internationally-recognized government undertook to normalize the situation in areas cleared from militia presence.
Infrastructure projects in Al-Jouf Governorate were also launched by Vice President Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar.
A strategic highway, covering 250 km, linking Al-Jouf to Hadhramaut is underway.
Dagher made a speech at an official ceremony held in Mukalla, the largest city in Hadramout, for the second year marking the city’s freeing from al-Qaeda presence.
Yemen’s national army with the support of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition have been gradually clearing out areas overrun by terrorists and Iran-allied Houthi militias.
The ceremony, which was attended by bin Dagher along with 11 other ministers, included military inspection and a tour of a number of government and private projects being carried out in Hadhramaut.
In his keynote speech, bin Dagher promised more development and services project. He stated that new power plants will be established and promising oil and gas discoveries will be ushered in the province.
He vehemently defended the Federal state proposal, describing it as a trouble-free future.
“Federal State proposal is a practical plan for nation-building and desirable development,” he said.
“We share one Yemeni identity-- It has been deeply rooted in history. I do repeat here what I said in Aden: There are wide differences between our national identity and the political system, and this must be made clear,” Dagher commented.
