Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi vowed on Sunday that the operation to liberate the northern province of Saada until the capital, Sanaa, is liberated form the clutches of the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
He said during a telephone call with Yemeni military commander Abdulkarim al-Sadey that the Houthis will be defeated in the Maran region, adding that victory was near.
Sadey briefed Hadi on the ongoing operations in Saada that were launched on Friday.
He said that the national army has already made major field progress and was advancing on Maran, the home region of the Houthi leader.
Advances were made on the al-Malahith front, where the army marched 40 kilometers in two days. It has captured more than 20 villages from the Houthis, he revealed according to the Saba news agency.
The army was now nearing the Maran “triangle”, one of the Houthis’ most important strongholds in the Khalb valley region, he added.
In the western coastal province of Hodeidah, the legitimate forces have arrived at the eastern al-Saleh city, announced local commander Abdulrahman Saleh al-Mahrami.
He briefed Hadi on the battle developments during the second day of the operation to recapture Hodeidah city and its strategic port.
The operation will continue until victory is achieved, he vowed.
The army was achieving great victories amid major collapses in ranks among the Houthis as they suffer successive defeats, he stressed.
