Saudi-led Coalition Joint Forces to Support Legitimacy in Yemen accused Houthi militias of targeting the Red Sea Mills in Hodeidah aiming to starve the Yemeni people.
The militias continue to elude and delay the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement, stated Coalition Spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki.
Maliki revealed that last Thursday Houthis targeted the Red Sea Mills in Hodeidah, which contains large quantities of wheat, in a deliberate attempt to starve the Yemeni people and prevent the arrival of humanitarian aid to the needy in several areas.
In two weeks, Houthi militias lost 232 equipment and positions, while 652 terrorist elements were killed during the same period.
Maliki said the joint forces and the Yemeni National Army are adopting tactical self-restraint over Houthi violations of the Stockholm agreement to ensure the success of efforts of UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffith and head of the Committee for the Coordination of Redeployment, Lieutenant General Michael Lollesgaard.
Speaking during his weekly press conference in Riyadh, Maliki indicated that the Yemeni government announced that unilateral withdrawal is not part of the provisions of the Stockholm agreement.
The Spokesman noted that the militias did not abide by the Stockholm agreement, whether by the terms concerning Hodeidah, Taiz, or the release of prisoners and detainees.
He hoped the peace-sponsoring countries in Yemen will have a clear position on the party obstructing the agreement.
Maliki pointed out that over the past period, Houthi militias tried to gain time and transfer fighters and reinforcements from and to Hodeidah.
He also noted that Houthis are trying to force the coalition into military action by launching ballistic missiles, but “we are adopting tactical self-restraint along with the legitimate government to ensure the success of the efforts of the UN envoy.”
