The Yemen government stressed Friday that the “lax approach in implementing the Sweden deal” only encourages the Iran-backed Houthi militias to continue their provocations.
The failure to identify the obstructors of the truce agreement will lead to its failure, it warned.
The Sweden deal calls for the Houthis to withdraw from Hodeidah city and its three ports. The UN-sponsored agreement was reached in December between the legitimate government and Houthis.
Abdullah al-Ulaimi, who was part of the government delegation in Sweden, said: “We have not yet received any timetable to implement the agreement.”
The situation in Hodeidah has not changed in the 37 days since the agreement went into effect and 32 days since head of the UN monitoring team, retired Dutch General Patrick Cammaert, had arrived to Yemen, he continued.
He cited in this regard the Houthis’ ongoing amassing of forces, digging of trenches and blocking of humanitarian aid.
Such actions demonstrate that they have no intention to achieve peace, he remarked.
The government, on the other hand, is committed to executing the Sweden deal, he stressed.
