Ibb-based Abductees’ Mothers Association called Saturday on Yemenis to form a national, social and legal alliance in which efforts gather to enable the abductees to exercise their right to freedom and cooperate to clear the prisons and prevent kidnapping.
It also called on the Security Council and the United Nations to assume their responsibilities in the protection of human rights.
The Association explained that these responsibilities include providing freedom, preserving human dignity and punishing those who violate these rights by abducting and torturing innocent civilians.
These calls were made during a protest organized by the Association in Ibb city, on Saturday morning, in conjunction with the “Abductee’s Day”, April 18.
“The Abductee’s Day comes while the mothers’ hearts are loaded with sadness and sorrow in light of abducting their children and making them disappear in Houthi-controlled detention places,” a statement said.
The Association stressed that its members have assumed double responsibility and vowed to defend the rights of abductees and those who were forcibly hidden.
It said they were able throughout the harshest moments of the war to continue striving, as they believe that the freedom of their children and their spouses is the responsibility of their relatives, the country and the Yemeni citizens in general.
The mothers also appealed to all international and local human rights and legal organizations to support them in rescuing the abductees and those who were forcibly disappeared.
They urged them to bring to justice the abductors and those violating human rights and carrying out crimes against humanity.
