Yellow weather warning issued across parts of Scotland with thunderstorms expected

The Met Office has warned that thunder is likely across parts of Scotland

A YELLOW weather warning has been put in place across parts of Scotland on Wednesday amid risk of flooding and heavy rain.

The warning is in place from 1pm to 8pm on Wednesday with slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms likely to develop across Central Scotland, Tayside, Fife, Southwest Scotland, Lothian Borders and Strathclyde.

Flooding warning from Met Office

It has been reported that there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds

The Met Office has also said that there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services, along with dangerous driving conditions and potential road closures.

It was also warned that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
