Yellow weather warning for 'heavy rain and snow' in Nottinghamshire

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for rain and snow that covers parts of Nottinghamshire.

A yellow weather warning was put in place from just before 5am today (December 4) until 11am.

The areas covered by the warning includes Newark and Bingham.

The Met Office states: "Heavy rain and snow leading to tricky travel due to surface water and possible slushy accumulations."

This means there could be spray and surface water on the roads, making journey times longer with bus and train services also potentially affected.

Friday morning weather forecast with snow disruption and warnings in place

"Snow may be briefly heavy in places, reducing visibility and leading to slippery surfaces," the Met Office adds.

Top temperatures today are not expected to exceed 2C with lows of 1C.
