Yellow weather warning as thunderstorms head to Bristol: Hour-by-hour Met Office forecast

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Bristol and surrounding areas.

The alert, which warns of flooding, strong winds and thunderstorms, is in place from 3am on July 30 to the end of the day.

Rain with sunny spells is predicted from 6am to 10am, and from 4pm until 9pm.

But in the period between 10am and 4pm, thunder is expected.

There is a high chance of rain throughout the day, with temperatures set to peak at 19 degrees.

Thunderstorms bring a chance of flooding in places along with possible travel disruption.

The warning is in place for parts of the South West, the Midlands, the North West and Wales.

What the Met Office says to expect

  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
  • There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
