The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice as temperatures plummet.
Wintry showers are expected to affect northern Scotland as well as areas of the Scottish borders from this evening and into tomorrow morning.
Periods of snow and sleet will fall, resulting in icy stretches forming in parts of the country- according to The Met Office.
One to two centimetres of snow is forecast in parts of northern Scotland, with up to five centimetres falling on higher ground.
A weather warning for ice is in place from 6pm this evening - December 1 - to 10am tomorrow morning - December 2.
Highs of just 3C are expected in northern areas of Scotland over the next two days, with maximums of just 1 °C are forecast in the Grampian area tomorrow.

Temperatures are expected to plunge to as low as -9C in northern parts of Scotland in the early hours of Thursday morning, according to a Netweather forecast.
Netweather Senior forecaster Jo Farrow said there will be "blasts of cold Arctic air, milder interludes, frost and blustery winds and still the chance of more snow but it’s mainly over the hills".
"It will be a cold day on Thursday with sleet and snow showers for the far north of Scotland".
In the Cairngorms, the windchill could be a brutal -16C later today and into Thursday morning, according to snow-forecast.com.
Looking further ahead, Snow is likely to fall over hills on Friday, the Met Office said. It could become heavy in places such as the Cairngorms on Saturday.
