Yellow warning for snow and ice in place for West Lothian

Forecasters predict snow will fall in West Lothian as cold plumes of air arrive from the west.

Wintry weather is expected today with snow and sleet showers and a yellow warning for snow valid until 4pm and from 8pm to 11pm.

There is also a yellow warning for ice from 8pm tonight until 11am on Friday.

Showers are expected to turn increasingly to rain and sleet across lower levels of the country throughout Friday morning, before steadily easing from the west through the afternoon.

The Met office said the slush may create dangerous conditions due to frozen and icy patches.

Rain and more mild conditions will then cover most of the country, according to the Met Office.

Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services and probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
