Yellow warning for frost and fog is extended to south-east England

A yellow weather warning for Saturday has been expanded to cover south-east England.

The Met Office initially informed people on Friday in the East Midlands, East of England, the North East, Wales and Yorkshire and Humber to brace for thick fog and freezing temperatures.

But the hazardous weather is now expected to also affect more southerly regions too.

Last night, the Met Office urged everyone to “get the hot water bottles at the ready as it’s set to be a cold and frosty night”, with the following statement adding: "Fog patches will form this evening (Friday), becoming more widespread overnight.

"Some dense fog patches are possible, with visibilities perhaps dropping to between 50 and 100m in a few places. Conditions should slowly improve on Saturday, although a few areas of fog may last until afternoon across the east of the warning area."

Blighted visibility could bring hazardous driving conditions in some areas, slower journey times for road trips and possible delays to bus and train services.
