Yellow vest protesters storm Attorney General's office in London

"Yellow vest" protesters stormed the Attorney General's office in London today.

Footage live-streamed on Facebook showed a group of protesters in yellow vests inside Geoffrey Cox's office building in Westminster.

The demonstrators sat in stairwells, shouted on loudspeakers and criticised the police as alarms were heard ringing out.

They then knocked on an office door within the building, shouting: "Hello, the little people are here." It was unclear how they had got inside.

Dozens of police officers were called to the scene in Victoria Street, close to Westminster Abbey.

More than 20 people sang "justice for the three" and chanted "we want a new Attorney General" while one man held an England flag aloft.

One 63-year-old man from south London, who did not want to give his name, said: "We are not far-right. We are a peaceful movement. We have our views on politics which we're entitled to have."

He said they will march to Parliament later to "demand Brexit".

When police officers asked the protesters to come off the steps a number refused to move and told the officers: "No violence."

Security guards for Westminster Abbey also moved in and told protesters: "Time to make a move now please."

Protesters stayed put and continued to chant: "Justice for the three."

It is believed that the protesters are part of the "Fighting for Justice" group who are unhappy with the way police investigated a hit-and-run crash that killed teenage boys Harry Rice, Josh McGuinness and George Wilkinson in Hayes, west London, in January last year.

In March last year, drink-driver Jaynesh Chudasama was jailed for 13 years for three counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

The boys had been walking to a birthday party when he crashed his Audi into them at more than 70mph and then fled the scene leaving them to die.

The Met Police confirmed it was dealing with the incident.

A spokesman said: "Police were called to Attorney General’s office on The Sanctuary at 1.43pm on Tuesday to reports of a protest/demonstration.

"A number of protesters had entered the building.

"Officers are on scene and dealing. No arrests at this point."

By 4.15pm, police said the protesters had left the building and officers remained at the scene monitoring the crowd outside.

Earlier on Tuesday self-styled yellow vest protester James Goddard appeared to in court to deny abusing MP Anna Soubry outside Parliament.

Goddard, 29, was accused of repeatedly haranguing and insulting the MP by calling her a “Nazi”, a “traitor”, and “scum” at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
