Six people have been charged after police officers were assaulted at a pro-Brexit “Yellow Vest” protest in central London, Scotland Yard said.
Met Police said four men and two women would appear in court accused of a range of offences after police officers were hurt in the protest which took place in Whitehall and Piccadilly on Saturday.
Terence Dwyer, 53, from north London, was charged with three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.
Robert Walker, 56, from Kennington, was charged with three counts of assault on an emergency worker and affray.
Sarah Penton-Stuart, 46, from Goldalming, David Coppin, 58, from Margate and Michael O’Sullivan, 57, from Borehamwood were all charged with assault of an emergency worker and affray, according to the Met.
Miah Levy, 38, of no fixed address, was charged with obstructing police, affray and possession of cannabis.
They will all appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
The pro-Brexit “Yellow Vest” protest descended into violence on Saturday and police were injured while trying to control the demonstrators.
