'Yellow Vest' James Goddard learns why it's unwise to call Liverpool a s***hole

'Yellow vest' Brexit protester James Goddard learned the hard way why it's a bad idea to call Liverpool a 's***hole'.

The pro-Brexit shouter was visiting Bootle, Merseyside to support far-right extremist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who is standing in the EU elections on Thursday.

He was confronted by an already fairly rowdy counter-protest upon his arrival.

But the mood turned yet more sour when Goddard loudly declared: "Why would I want to be from Liverpool? It's a s***hole!"

After having to literally run away from the furious crowd, he took refuge behind a row of police officers.

Later in the video, Goddard is heard shouting: "Do you know what, I take that back. It is a nice place - it's the people that are s**t."

Police officers warned Goddard not to "aggravate the situation".

One officer is seen on the video saying: "Do yourself a favour, do me a favour, stop inflaming the situation.

"I'm doing my best to stop you getting filled in."
