
Yellow dust was observed Monday over a wide area, including the prefectures of Hiroshima, Osaka and Niigata.
Visibility can fall to below 10 kilometers when there is yellow dust in the air. The Meteorological Agency is calling for people to take extra care when driving, and to watch for dust falling on laundry hung up outside.
Yellow dust comes from deserts in China, where it is blown up and then carried to Japan by westerlies.
On Monday, views of the Abeno Harukas skyscraper in Osaka were obscured by yellow dust.
