A group of Newcastle workers have taken home more than $50,000 each after their syndicate scored division one in the weekend's Saturday Lotto draw.
The 12-strong private syndicate held one of 10 division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4201, each win worth $621,262.72.
In addition, the syndicate's System 10 entry also scored division three 24 times, division four 90 times, and division six 80 times, bolstering the total win to $642,344.62. Each person receives a share worth $53,528.71.
"We've been playing for a number of years. We just all picked some numbers and then drew them out of a hat, and then just kept playing them," the syndicate leader said.
"My colleague rang yesterday morning asking if I'd checked the Lotto results. He said, 'We've won $600,000!', and I said, 'yeeha!'.
"I sent everyone a text message with a screenshot, and I got a couple of, 'are you kidding?' and, 'are you joking?' replies.
"Everyone has lots of good ways to spend it ... It's not enough to make us resign, but enough to make our lives easier."
