Year in review: 2015's most important numbers

Early last September, Queen Elizabeth II became the United Kingdom’s longest-reigning monarch, with a record-breaking 23,226 days of service – or more than 63 years.

In that time, former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew could have served his country twice (his tenure lasted for over 31 years) and the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 could have been completed 45 times (the hunt took 515 days, after coming to an end near Reunion).

But the Queen could have repeated her historic service eight times over in the time that it took for another member of British royalty to reach his final resting place – between King Richard III’s death at Bosworth in 1485, it took 529 years for him to be buried in Leicester Cathedral.
