Year-end goodies for handicraft lovers at BACC

If you're still looking for a unique gift for a loved one this holiday season, why not check out the "Merchandise Dayyyyy Yeah! Yeah! And A Happy New Year" crafts market, held tomorrow and Saturday at the Bangkok Arts and Cultural Centre (BACC).

Held as part of their Noise Market events, with support from music label Panda Records, this latest iteration of the event also promises live music from indie bands all day, alongside 30 booths of handcrafted products from vendors large and small all over Thailand.

As you'd expect from a DIY market of this sort, the wares on offer can be quite varied, from simple trinkets and books to furniture products, clothing, films and anything in between, provided they are handmade. While the organisers have announced that they would not be offering spots for food vendors this time around, the products on sale promise to be only the most unique, genuinely handcrafted items available, as they are chosen via email submissions as well as posts on the event's Facebook page from common citizens.

This latest market is also held under the theme of "precycling", with a focus on using environmentally friendly products to combat climate change, which could be an indication of the types of products being offered.

Aside from the DIY products, shoppers can enjoy live performances by indie bands all throughout the two days, with two stages set up across the event area in front of the BACC building. The bands promise to only play original music they've composed themselves, and will feature booths for the bands to sell merchandise like T-shirts and CDs. So you can support these budding musicians, should you like what you hear.

You can find the BACC building on the intersection between Rama I and Phaya Thai Road, near MBK and Siam Center. You can also take the BTS to either Siam or National Stadium, or the MRT to Sam Yan.
